Description of
Effort:
This is a two-year project, funded by the National Historical
Publications and Records Commission, to address a critical responsibility that
archives have discovered in their work with electronic records: the persistent
need to educate a variety of constituencies about the principles, products, and
resources necessary to implement archival considerations in the application of
information technology to governmental functions. Metadata and XML will be the
two primary tools and resources to help archivists and their constituencies
meet the electronic records challenge.

Project Partners include the: Minnesota Historical
Society, Delaware Public Archives, Indiana University Archives, State of
Kentucky, Ohio Historical Society, San Diego Supercomputer Center, and
